Hosting shows can be difficult for everyone since its a big responsibility, here at Genus-Equus we assist you to our best capabilities to make hosting a show much more easier on you.
To host a show you will need all possible information about the show for the entries this includes the following things:
- What the show is (Junior level Dressage) OR (USA Texas Cross Country 1 Star)
- When the show ends (05/10) OR (20th November)
- The Judges names (jasmine carter, Jack newton...etc.)
- The Payout or Cash prize (if not a cash prize then please state other)
- How many Classes (Age split, level split)
- An Entry Application Form
- Basic Show Rules (Rider must wear...Horse/s Turn out)
There is much to learn about hosting a show, but it can be very easy. The main things that MUST be in the show is stated above.
You may host a discipline show, or a breed show. Or Both. We here at Genus-Equus have a strict rule that must be followed! Under Any Circumstance there must NOT be Edited vs Non-edited show in anyway! If you do host a show please State which one you are doing. If you would like to host both then you must make two different shows on two different posts. We find it unfair to have Edited VS nonedited. Sorry for any inconveniance.
Basic Show Rules:
For basic show rules this includes the following:
- Images Should be no wider than 750pxls
- Judges must produce a scorecard and be fair in judging and in no way be using favouritism or judge unfairly because their freind is in the show or someone they dislike is in the show. Unfair or unrealistic Judging could or will remove access from you judging again.
- Show hosts must inform everybody about all the rules according to their show.
- Shows must contain the Disciplines Rules and Regulations Aswell as each members horse Level.
- Shows without images are judged based on luck.
- All Entry fees must be paid before the end date.
- Horses must be registered to their discipline/s and/or breed society in order to participate in shows.
- Shows not Affiliated with any Discipline or Breed Society will be a schooling show.
- Score cards must be given out after a show has been ended and judged.
- Any shows that have been delayed, must PM either their Societies Admin or the main Admin. (this is safety for you so you can not get penalised for delaying a show)
- Shows hosted must be carefully assessed by the host in order to confirm that all data entered is correct.
- Any host must have the available free time to run the show
- Horses must be a minimum of 4 years old to enter shows with exception to yearling halter shows, or any mare and foal halter show.
- There must be a minimum of 5 participants to a show in order for it to be judged.
- If ony class gets more than 15 - 20 entrants then the show class will be split up accordingly (this is where you decide how it is split up)
- You may also place in the show of how it will be judged (luck 3/3, Rider Attire 5/5, horse Tack 10/10, etc...)
Naming your show
Naming a show is a major draw back for some since those who have never hosted can always get thrown away by the idea. So here at GE we have decided to break it down for you.
So here are the following examples:
Introduction
Beginner
Amateur
Novice
Intermediate
Advanced
Regional
National
International
regional champion ships
nationals beginner cup
international gold cup
international Mare Championships
Schooling cross country trials
Novice Championships.
Now lets break these down in classess shall we?
Right we have some basic class examples:
Class 102 Unedited Novice:
Class 103 Unedited Junior:
Class 202 Edited Novice:
Class 203 Edited Junior:
Notice a pattern? Basically the 1s are unedited and 2s are edited, so if its all purely edited it will only be one beggining and ending from novice to intermediate can be beggining with any number from 1 - 9 however the ending number must also go from 1 - 9. Example:
101 edited novice
102 edited junior novice
103 edited beginner
and so on.... the only time it splits the first number is when edited and non edited are in the same show example:
101 edited novice
201 unedited novice
102 edited junior novice
202 unedited junior novice.
once thats put after class like this:
Class 101 unedited novice:
You can then go ahead and add an over all fee for every entrant to keep it fair OR after you put: Class 101 edited Novice: (place the fee here) then just put down the rest of the entry card. For anyone who does not understand we here at genus-equus are here to help you. So do not hesitate to ask any staff or member for help!
Affiliated shows
You can affiliate a show with multiple affiliations but within reason. You may affiliate each show with one breed society or federation and one discipline society. For those who want to do eventing please do understand you do need to affiliate your show with the following: Cross Country, Show Jumping and Dressage. Western discplines may combined to allow two affilations to one show, e.g barrel racing and in hand. These are the only exceptions when it comes to doing more than one discipline show. However you can if you get permission from either the breed association or the breed federation to affiliate and restrict your show to only those types or breeds of equine, those will no affiliation to a breed society or federation will have their show open to all breeds. Those who are not affiliated with anyone will have their show marked as a schooling show.
Points earned during an affiliated discipline must follow the disciplines points guideline. This is to ensure safety amongst realism and horses advancing.
Points can be earned during a schooling show but they will be Genus-Equus points only. So the equine will only earn GE points which can be veiwed from the GE master registry.
